Overview
The Image After the Shutter

A photograph isn't finished when you press the shutter. RAW files are raw material. This course teaches you to develop them: correct exposure, recover highlights and shadows, set accurate colour, retouch where needed, and export for any purpose.

You work in Adobe Lightroom for RAW processing and batch editing, and Adobe Photoshop for retouching and pixel-level work. Both are industry standards you will use throughout your career.

Curriculum
What You Learn
01
Import and File Management
Catalogue structure, folder naming, keywords, and metadata. A system that scales from 100 images to 100,000 without losing a single file.
02
RAW Processing
Exposure correction, white balance, tone curve, highlights and shadows recovery, clarity, and texture. Understanding what a RAW file contains and how far you can push it.
03
Colour Correction and Grading
HSL adjustments, split toning, colour calibration, and targeted colour work. The difference between correcting colour (making it accurate) and grading colour (making it intentional).
04
Retouching in Photoshop
Healing, cloning, frequency separation, dodge and burn. Removing distractions, cleaning skin, and refining details without making the image look artificial.
05
Batch Processing and Presets
Syncing adjustments across a series. Creating and applying presets. Building a workflow that handles a full shoot in hours, not days.
06
Export and Delivery
Sharpening for screen vs. print. Resolution, colour space, and file format choices. Exporting for web, social media, client galleries, and professional print.
07
Developing a Visual Style
Consistency across a body of work. Colour palettes, tonal choices, and editing decisions that make your photographs recognisably yours.
Software
What You Work With

Adobe Lightroom Classic for catalogue management, RAW development, and batch processing. Adobe Photoshop for retouching, compositing, and pixel-level adjustments. Both are provided during the course.
