01
Booking & Payment

A place on a course is confirmed once we receive payment. Places are limited because we teach in small groups, so a place stays provisional until it is paid. We accept KES and USD, and other currencies by prior agreement.

The Photography Class costs KES 9,000 or USD 70 in total, which is KES 1,800 or USD 14 per training day. The Videography Class costs KES 15,000 or USD 120 in total, which is KES 1,500 or USD 12 per training day. Lighting: Studio & Flash costs KES 3,000 or USD 24 in total, which is KES 1,500 or USD 12 per training day. We publish the fees for the editing courses when they open.

02
What's Included

The fee covers all teaching, the course materials used during the class, and mineral water on each training day. It does not cover accommodation or travel to Malindi. We are glad to help arrange accommodation for any budget, but the booking and cost stay with you.

Lunch is included on each training day of the Photography Class. We share it on site so the group stays together and the afternoon starts on time. We strongly recommend you spend the lunch break in or near the training rooms, so the course restarts promptly and is not held up by latecomers. The Videography Class runs in groups of two or three, so we do not organise lunch for it and students arrange their own.

At the end of the course you sit the Final Assignment. Students who pass receive a certificate of achievement, either Pass or Pass with Distinction depending on their score. Students who do not sit the test, or who do not reach the pass mark, receive a certificate of participation for attending the course.

03
Cancellation & Refunds

If you need to cancel or change your booking, please tell us as early as possible. Because places are limited and training days are prepared in advance, we handle refunds and date changes case by case. If we cancel a course for reasons on our side, you receive a full refund or a place on a later date, whichever you prefer.

04
Rescheduling & Group Size

We teach the Photography Class in groups of 4 to 6 students, and never more than 9. The Videography Class runs smaller, 2 to 3 students and never more than 4. If too few students book a given date, we may move the course to a later date. You can then accept the new date or take a full refund. We confirm the final date with you before the course begins.

05
Minors, Parents & Guardians

Younger students are welcome. For a student under 18, a parent or guardian contacts us before booking so we can confirm the course is a good fit, and books on the student's behalf. By booking for a minor, the parent or guardian accepts these terms for that student. Parents are welcome to attend at no extra cost. We treat the safety and wellbeing of younger students as a priority throughout the course.

06
Attendance & Conduct

Please arrive on time and attend the full course, since the material builds day by day. We ask every student to treat instructors, fellow students, and equipment with respect. We may ask a student to leave without a refund for behaviour that puts people or equipment at risk.

07
IMARA Talent Programme

The IMARA Talent Programme is a route for committed students who want deeper, hands-on experience with IMARA Film. Places are limited and offered by application. Talent Programme students accept a separate written agreement, which sets out the full terms. The attendance rule above applies in full: one missed course day voids the agreement, with no exceptions.

Talent Programme students take the course at no cost. For them, lunch is not included. You can bring your own, or buy the on-site lunch for KES 300 or USD 2.50 per day.

08
Equipment & Care

During practical sessions you handle cameras, lenses, and other equipment provided by IMARA Film Academy. Please follow the instructor's guidance at all times. You are responsible for damage caused by misuse or by ignoring instructions. Normal wear from careful use is expected and is on us.

09
Course Materials & Copyright

Course materials, including scripts, handouts, and PDF guides, are for your personal learning only. Copyright in all course materials stays with IMARA Film Academy. Please do not copy, share, resell, or republish them without our written permission.

10
Images, Privacy & Data

We photograph and film during courses for teaching, portfolio, and promotion, and students often appear in this material. Students also produce images of each other as part of the class. By joining a course you agree that IMARA Film Academy and its parent studio IMARA Film may use this material for their portfolio, website, and social media, unless you tell us in writing before the course that you prefer not to appear. For a minor, the parent or guardian gives or withholds this consent.

When you contact us through the website form, your details reach us through Formspree and serve only to answer your enquiry and arrange your course. We do not sell your data.

11
Health & Safety

Some sessions take place outdoors or on location. Please follow all safety guidance from the instructor. Tell us in advance about any medical condition, allergy, or need we should know about, so we can support you during the course.

12
Limitation of Liability

Our total liability for any course is limited to the amount you paid for that course. We are not liable for indirect or knock-on losses, including travel costs, lost time, or missed opportunities, however they arise.

13
Force Majeure

If we cannot run a course due to circumstances genuinely beyond our control, such as extreme weather, illness, or government restrictions, we tell you without delay and work with you in good faith to reschedule or refund.

14
Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and any dispute falls under the jurisdiction of the Kenyan courts. Any agreement between us must be in writing. Verbal agreements are not binding.

15
Acceptance

By booking a course with IMARA Film Academy, you agree to these terms. They apply in full unless we have both signed a separate written agreement.
